Inculcating Science Temper in Young Minds

Date: Wednesday, November 26th
Time: 15:00
Duration: 2 hours
Attendees: Various schools from Delhi/NCR
Room: Meeting Room Conference Hall in the National Book Trust

Two students (Abhinav Kadam of XI B and Yash Nair of X B) alongwith a science teacher (S C Joshi) have participated in a meet that was organized by National Book Trust, Vasant Kunj, Delhi, India on November 26’ 2014. It was discussed in the meeting that there is a need to stop diminishing curiosity in children. People should let young children explore the world by themselves and guide them only wherever necessary. Students who are at an age of becoming the future need to be more curious about the world around them.

Professor Yash Pal shared a lot of anecdotes telling about his experience with children and how he observed curiosity and science temper in them. He said that every child has science temper in him but, as soon as he enters the school system created by our educators he is scaled on a basis of his memory mugging and is categorized by telling that he is a good student or a bad one. He also said that as we grow our simplicity decreases and therefore decreasing our science temper.
